In the tradition of Hollywood teenage comedy films that portray vacation-crazed college students celebrating their freedom from classes with a crazy house party, your son made a decision to invite a "few" buddies over for a few alcoholic drinks while you, his parents, were outside for the weekend. It looked like a great idea at the time, he reasoned, right before more and more people decided to show up, alcoholic drinks started flowing freely, and pretty soon every single inch of blank space in the house is overrun with intoxicated young adults with paper cups in their hands.
The day after, you get back home to examine the problem, and there's certainly plenty to behold: the carpet or rug is sloppy and stained with various kinds of beer and soft drinks; popcorn and chips are scattered all across the floor; a pervasive smell of burnt salsa (your son's well-intentioned attempt at becoming a good host with special snack offerings) emanates from the cooking area; the drapes and the sofa are smeared with the same salsa; and most horrible of all, a bundle of documents in your study rests simmering in its own pond of beverage over the top of your sleek oak desk.
